I love talking Macs with people!

I love talking about Macs to pretty much anyone that asks or that will listen. In elementary school and junior high, the labs all had the original iMacs. Yes, the beautiful colored ones with the ridiculous round mouse. I had always wanted a Mac of my own but being a teenager living with parents, you don't get much of a choice. My parents immediately wrote them off as "not as good as a pc" or "if they break there is no way to take it apart and fix it". Thinking about these excuses and misconceptions now, makes me laugh. Macs are more mainstream now but there are still people who have these misconceptions. It wasn't until I began dating my current boyfriend (BobaFettucini), that I was able to become reacquainted with the Apple name. I fell in love with his iMac and I set out to ditch my giant Sony Vaio laptop, and go Mac. I am now MacBook Pro and iPhone user.
I use my MacBook Pro a lot while I'm at school and I live in area where people aren't quite as up on technology. I've had a handful of people come up to me and ask about Macs. I always take my headphones off and spend a few minutes telling people what makes Macs so special. If I didn't love my computer so much I may not be as inclined to praise it as much as I do. When I really love a product it is so easy to tell others.
Believe me, I know. I worked at GameStop for almost two years... and we were always selling crap that I didn't really believe in. If you've never worked for LameStop, you should know that they push two main things. They want reserves on upcoming titles, even if they are junk (Madden?) and they want subscriptions to Game Informer magazine. No matter what costumer or what transaction we had to push those two things. Knowing that this person probably doesn't need a 14.99 magazine subscription, makes it hard to really sell it. It could also have been because I don't believe in selling people things they don't need. Either way, I did not believe in the product I was selling.
It is a shame I live so far away from the nearest Apple store. I would love to sell some Apple products.
When people ask me about my Mac one of the first things I tell them is that you can kiss those yearly fees for virus protection goodbye. Sure, you can get protection for your Mac and if you have the extra money it is a great investment but the likeliness of getting a virus or spyware is so much less than Windows. Well, unless you're an incompetent internet user. This is something I bring up first, because for years I struggled with stupid virus and spyware from checking my email. I am an extremely competent computer user and could easily fix whatever problems I ran into but it was time consuming and just plain annoying.
Another big thing people ask about is how easy it is to use. I'll usually show them my applications folder on my dock or how quickly you can get to system preferences. Having been a windows user for years, going through start>program files>folder>program was second nature but when you think about it there is so much run around when trying to get to files and programs. Sure you can litter your desktop with icons but that inevitably slows down your start up time.
It's really so much more than that. They are simple to use, reliable, convenient, and they offer some of the best software. It does make me feel productive when I get to tell someone what I love about Macs because they usually have some prior misconception.
