Bioshock 2 Review

Oh Rapture, we meet again… Only this time it is after the fall of Andrew Ryan. In 2k’s highly anticipated sequel to Bioshock, a new antagonist has risen up from the ever-crumbling Rapture, Doctor Sofia Lamb, to unite the spliced out inhabitants. You are Delta, the first Big Daddy, and you have just awoken after several years and are itching for revenge.

E3 2009 Preview: DC Universe Online (June 2009)

If you're a fan of the DC Universe than I am sure you've heard of Sony Online Entertainment's newest MMO, DC Universe Online. If you're like me ( DC fanatic and MMO addict) than you've been following this game closely since its announcement. So for me, this title was a must see at E3. In fact, this was the first thing I had to see! Fans will agree that Jim Lee as the executive creative director and the mere thought of raiding the Batcave, sounds like the beginning of something great...

E3 2009 Preview: Batman Arkham Asylum (June 2009)

At E3 this year, I had the opportunity to check out one of this year's most anticipated games, Batman: Arkham Asylum. Warner Brothers and Eidos had booths with demos available to play. They didn't just stop there though. Both Warner Bros and Eidos made sure their demoing areas were adorned with Batman decor and a Batmobile. At the Warner Brothers booth I got to ask some important questions as well as get my fix of the demo.

The first thing you notice from the demo is the game's gritty art style. Combine that with the voice talent of Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy and you are flashing back to fond memories of the TV show Batman: The Animated Series. The first portion of the demo consist of getting to know the combat system. At a glance it may feel like a brawler but once all the elements of the gameplay come together you are left feeling like you've fallen into the pages of another Batman adventure. Quickly you will realized that this game is very true to the real comic Batman. He is just a human detective with his trusted gadgets. You will not only pull off some bone-breaking combos but you will utilize detective mode. Detective mode lets you view your enemy's heart rate to determine their state. This will come in handy when deciding how quiet you want to be.

Most importantly the story of Arkham Asylum takes place in one night... One night of hell from Batman's standpoint. Once again the Joker is up to his tricks and lets himself be caught and taken into Arkham Asylum. The mood is tense because Batman and Gordon know something is not right. They have good reason too because no sooner do they exchange concern, the Joker is loose and running through Arkham Asylum springing villains free. Since Batman is subjected to a night of hell, his character's damage will show in his bruises and torn costume. He will even gain some handsome Bat-stubble. Also be prepared to gain some stubble of your own because the game is said to be 15-20 hours of gameplay.

PS3 Review: Killzone 2 (March 2009)

Killzone 2, the highly anticipated Playstation 3 exclusive, has finally made its way into the hands of gamers. So far it is one of the fastest selling exclusives for the Playstation 3 and its pre-orders surpassed big titles such as Little Big Planet and Resistance 2. Before its release the game was hyped by expectations of grandeur as well as talk of saving the Playstation 3 from certain death. No, not one game could turn the tide for the waning interest in the PS3, but it could push it in that direction. Killzone 2 didn't bring anything new to the table as far as first-person shooters go. They did however, set a new standard for the genre.
